Kelinu and the Light from the Well He Dug
Kelinu — or as everyone knew him, Kelinu — owned a field and wished to dig a small well to water his crops. He did not take long to start digging because he was very eager. As soon as he removed the stick from the hole, Kelinu began to see a light coming from the well. It looked like the light of an oil lamp.
Curiosity, as it often does, overcame Kelinu, and he continued digging to widen the hole in the ground he had just opened. He bent down and put his head into the hole to see if he could catch a glimpse of something. However, a beautiful scent rose from the well, like jasmine, which even he could not explain.
At that moment, he became confused and did not know what to do next. He lifted his eyes to the sky and said, “Lord, if this is some kind of sign, I ask you to grant my wife, who is sick and cannot walk, health, and I promise to spread this miracle to everyone I meet.”
While he was lying on the ground, tired and eating half a loaf of bread with tomato and onion, he heard a distant voice calling. He realized it was the voice of his wife, Karmena, saying, “Madonna of Mercy.”
Kelinu and the Shining Well
Kelinu dug a little well,
To water plants he loved so well.
He dug with hope and worked each day,
And saw a light that led the way.
A shining glow, so soft and bright,
Like stars that twinkle in the night.
A scent like jasmine filled the air,
A secret magic hidden there.
Kelinu looked up to the sky,
With hopeful heart and a quiet sigh:
“Dear Lord above, please hear my prayer,
Heal my wife with loving care.”
With gentle hands and faith so strong,
He shared this story in his song.
And from that day, the light would stay,
A sign of hope along the way.
A Little Prayer
Dear God, please hear my humble plea,
Bring health and love to all I see.
With kindness, hope, and hearts so true,
Guide us in all we say and do.
Amen.
